they wanna make me their queen
When Cressida’s family came to the mortal realm, her first time, they stayed for much longer than any initially anticipated. Their home base was in Europe, though they moved around quite a great deal. Being former royalty in their realm meant that Cressida’s mother and sister enjoyed rubbing elbows with human royalty. They picked their favourites, considered many of them pets, and bestowed heaps of awful luck upon rivals and enemies, all for the ability to live comfortably and practice their magical gifts however they pleased.
For the most part, Cressida loved her life in the mortal realm. She took many lovers, excelled with her magical gifts (her individual skill was the elemental manipulation of water), and was raised on stories about their home, host and legacy. Cressida’s older sister claimed that it would have fallen on her to one day take on the position of Queen of their host, and having been robbed of it eventually became a sore spot of contention in the young fae. As she grew older, she became more and more infuriated that their positions had been taken from them.
When Cressida, her family, and their followers finally went back to the Fae Realm, they discovered they were not warmly welcomed. The ruler of Aonach Beag and their host was aging and unwilling to pass along his crown to anyone else in his familial line. The host had also become unrulier, a fact which made other, more benevolent fae aggressive towards them. Cressida gathered her courage and began planting the seeds of discord to dispose the fae from his throne. Before she could get very far, Cressida and many of her followers were banished and chased out. She briefly returned to the human realm, disillusioned with her cause, but eventually managed to gather her strength to return and do what she’d set out to do.
And she was successful.
Cressida won back the monarchy for her family and was crowned as the Queen of the host of Aonach Beag. She ruled for several hundreds of years, only occasionally making trips back to the human realm. In the mid-1700s, she passed along the crown to a younger sister—as was custom in their matriarchal lineage—and travelled back to the mortal realm. She reconnected with old cohorts and friends and took up in France for several decades, sewing seeds of discord and dissent while she rubbed elbows with the aristocratic and intelligentsia.
When she finally returned to her host, Cressida discovered that her sister had more or less passed along control to her partner and mate; a fact which incurred her wrath a great deal. While Cressida sought to ensure that her sister could establish a firmer, more authoritative rule, a Fae Tribunal Council began to emerge in their realm, using codes of conduct from all hosts to establish a strict creed to govern them all. The monarchies, as they had once been, were more or less abolished if they weren’t absorbed into the Council. As someone who strongly opposed the creation of this Council and tried to dismantle it many steps along the way, Cressida was once again banished from the Fae realm for an “indefinite” period of time.
For longer than she cares to admit, Cressida has been living in the mortal realm, cut off from her family and homeland because of her oppositional nature and tendency towards destructive coups. She has actually given up on the habit of keeping company with wealthy and elites and is spent several decades living in the United States, enjoying a more “working class” type of life, though she is still known for creating trouble and havoc among humans. Sometimes for sport, sometimes because someone is paying her to do it. Over the years of her life, Cressida has had many children with mortals but has generally stuck to the code of not maintaining contact with them. Most recently, she had daughter Natasha Ilanov with a man who, shortly after she ended their relationship, was turned into a vampire.
if you wanna break these walls down, you're gonna get bruised.
→ Fae abilities typical among all.
→ Her individual magical talent is elemental manipulation (specifically water)
→ Age and experience have made her very skilled in combat and battle tactics
